Set default Acrobat (DC versus X pro for specific users) in Microsoft RDS environment

Hello,

I have a single server Microsoft Windows Server 2016 RDS environment. (So a single remote desktop server).

I have Adobe Acrobat X professional for some users.

I have Adobe Acrobat DC for standard users.

The Acrobat X pro users are the only ones able to open the Acrobat X pro software (NTFS rights).

The problem is that all users on the server by default have Acrobat DC open pdf files. And the Acrobat X pro users would like Acrobat X pro te be the default program to open PDF's.

How can I make sure that specific users on the server open Acrobat X pro, and not the free Acrobat when double clicking a PDF file?

Adobe Reader DC 2015.007.20033

Hello,

I am deploying on Adobe Acrobat reader for an enterprise.  I have used the Adobe Customization Wizard to generate a transform file (.MST file) and have been able to streamline the installation wizard.  I have checked the "Disable Upsell" option inside the installation Wizard:

Capture.PNG

However, it seems when I launch the application, in the bottom right corner there is still a message that offering a "Free Trail" of Acrobat Adobe reader.  We do not want this to display to our user community.  We would like to turn this off.  Is there any way to turn off this feature?

Thanks,

Acrobat DC Pro via SCCM switch to disable updates

I'm installing Acrobat DC Pro via SCCM using Setup.exe /msi EULA_ACCEPT=YES /qn . I'd like to be able to add a switch to disable update notifications so that the users don't see any prompts for updates not does the product try to update with user rights (which aren't high enough). How do I do this?

Acrobat Plug-ins for Chrome and IE

Hi,

We are trialing virtual desktops with XenDesktop.  We have a limited number of licences for Adobe Acrobat 2017.  I have installed both Adobe Acrobat 2017 and Adobe Reader 2017 on to my Windows 10 1709 master image.  I've created an Active Directory group called Adobe Acrobat Users that will have the list of users who are allowed to use it.  Everyone else just gets the reader.

I have restricted access to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 2017 so only members of the above group have read/execute permissions.

After lots of messing around, I've finally got the user filetype associations working so non-members of that group default to Adobe Reader and users default to Adobe Acrobat.

The last piece of the puzzle is removing the Adobe Acrobat plug-in from Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 11 for those who aren't members of the group.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

David

Unable to install Acrobat DC using msi with /qn

So I have been working on new deployment packages and one of the ones needed is Acrobat Pro DC which our university has a license for. I have downloaded and used the Acrobat Customization wizard to create my mst file with the settings I want and the license key included. The problem is that it will not run as a quiet install.

Command line is as follows

msiexec.exe /i AcroPro.msi Transforms="AcroPro.mst" /qn

When attempting to do this with MDT I get an error 1602.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Verifying Acrobat Pro 2015/2017 License Use Reported vs Actual?

$

We have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled Acrobat Pro many times on different PCs.  Sometimes we take a workstation that has Acrobat Pro installed, format the hard drive, reinstall Windows without reinstalling Acrobat since the new user doesn't need Acrobat and then reassign the computer to another user.  So, it may look to Adobe as if we are still using this license since Acrobat was never uninstalled and deactivated.

How can we see how many licences Adobe thinks we are using and compare it to how many are really still installed on active computers and remove any extras to make the licenses available again?

I signed into the Adobe License portal and see serial numbers and download links, but I don't see where it says how many licenses Adobe says are used out of available licences.

Adobe Acrobat "missing redaction capability" via Citrix Session only

Our firm is having an Adobe Acrobat "missing redaction capability" via Citrix Session only issue.

Most of the firm uses Adobe Acrobat X (PRO), some users use Adobe Acrobat Standard (which does NOT have redaction capability).

When Acrobat PRO users remotely access the network via Citrix they don't have redaction capabilities.  My engineer re-installed Acrobat Pro on the Citrix server yesterday and it seemed to work.  He checked many things including Group Policies.  Today I tested it and it worked fine Citrixed in as myself, but failed Citrixed in as another Acrobat Pro user.

This is a maddening problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for your input.  It is greatly appreciated.citrixAcrobatKnowledge Base

Default PDF Viewer for Windows 10

Is there any way to programmatically set Acrobat Reader DC as the default viewer for PDF files before/during/after an enterprise deployment? I am able to set most everything else via the Acrobat Customization Wizard, but for whatever reason, following the install, the default viewer for PDF files is still the Microsoft Edge browser. Please advise. Thanx.

How can I install Adobe Acrobat Pro DC without the Adobe PDFMaker addins

$

Hi,

I'm trying to deploy Adobe Acrobat Pro without the Adobe PDF maker add-ins that get installed using the standard installer.

These add-ins cause stability issues with Outlook which users have been experiencing and complaining about.

We install Acrobat on a per user basis if and when users request it to be installed.

Looking forward to a response.

Regards,

Simon

Acrobat Pro 11 include Patches in MSI

Hello Adobe,

would you please so kindly and give me some Instructions where to Download the Current Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 MSI Installer and where to get the matching Patches for it ?

We downloaded the Acrobat Pro 11 directly for your Website but the Installation of this Client failed because it was not compatible with our Serial Number so a Colleague of mine downloaded a different Version of Acrobat Pro 11 from the "Licensing Website: LWS".

The new downloaded installer was now compatible with our Lizense but we need to update it to a current Version because Version 11.0 does not work with Office 2016

(plugins are not displayed)

I did this allready with the normal Adobe 11 pro Version downloaded from the website, creted an Admin Image and slipstreamed the Patches using the "/p" Paraemeter. Unfortunally this doesnt work with the Installer Files i received from my Colleague it say the Patch does not the Version.

Please Provide Instructions where to download the right version (Is ther no MUI available for Acrobat Pro 11??) and where to download the matching updates or provide a download for an actuall updated installer that does work with Windows 10 and Office 2016.

Adobe Reader DC 2018.011.20040 won't install via GPO to Windows 10 1709

Adobe Reader has a massive security flaw in it which we have been trying to patch for well over a month now.

Turns out that it will not install via GPO to computers running Windows 10 1709 but will install to Windows 10 1803; with our upgrade to 1803 not due till later in the month what is the solution to getting the new version of reader to install?

All computers show they are getting the policy for the install of 2018.011.20040 but it does not install over the old version.

We fixed Flash player, which was having similar issues, by doing a RegEdit to some keys due to a TLS 1.0 issue. Is anyone aware of a similar fix for Reader?

The GPO is fine. Clicking the .exe is not the solution. Please help me with a useful solution to my actual problem

Migrating serial license from Enterprise to new CC Device license

Can anyone provide some help with deploying via SCCM the Adobe license package? The scenario I am dealing with is we currently have lab computers that have Adobe CC products already on them and activated with an old serial number. Some would like to be able to change the license from the old version to the new one instead of reinstalling the software. So I created the license package with Creative Cloud Packager but am not sure how to get it deployed via SCCM and if it would work for this instance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Activating Acrobat DC on Shared Computers

$

We're considering purchasing enterprise subscriptions of Acrobat for users in our organization, but I have some concerns about shared computers.

We have several conference rooms with shared computers that users log on to for meetings and presentations. Users may log on to multiple shared computers a day as they move around the office for meetings.

Since Acrobat DC is now subscription-based, can we activate Acrobat on these shared computers so users are not prompted to sign in to Adobe on different devices? We don't want these devices to count towards the users' device activation count or they'll constantly be signed out of their personal (non-shared) computer.

If I'm going about this all wrong or there's a better way to do this, please mention it!

For comparison, with our Office 365 subscriptions when one user activates the Office applications on a particular computer, they are activated for all users who log on to that computer. We have dedicated subscriptions to activate Office on those computers.
