MSI Set Value failed Error Code = 259

I am attempting to configure an enterprise install of Adobe Acrobat DC Pro. I am using the latest Wizard CustWiz1502020039_en_US_DC.exe. I can set several options successfully for example Installation Options and Shortcuts. I can save these settings but when I attempt to save Online and Adobe online services Features I get an error 259? Why when modifying these features is the error thrown and how do I overcome?

I noticed after this latest update to Acrobat DC there are options to sign in with Facebook or Google on the Adobe Acrobat Sign in window. I would like to suppress the Facebook and Google Sign in options for my Enterprise users. Does anybody know if there is a registry value that would suppress these options?

How can I identify/distinguish installed Acrobat Pro DC vs Acrobat Standard DC?

On trying to manage our installed Acrobat footprint we need to easily count the installations per edition. Both versions show quite similar on a file level (acrobat.exe). Any advice what the distinguishing factor is and how to identify it in an automated process?

PDFMaker Addin disabled in Word 2016

Hi Everyone,

We have noticed that the "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" is getting disabled by Office if you have "Require Application Add-ins to be signed by a Trusted Publisher". I believe this is due to the fact that the Certificate used to sign the DLL expired on the 08/05/2017.

Is there any way to fix this as its affecting a large number of users.

Kindest Regards,

Chris

Customization wizard offline exception works, but on deployed servers I still get an activation prompt

Hi, I have used the offline exception feature in the customization wizard to create an install package to deploy to servers that do not have Internet access themselves. I am running the customization wizard on a machine that does have Internet access, and I get a positive response to the offline exception. I create the customized installer back in July and this is just now starting to crop up on the machines. Also in the customized installer, I disabled all other Internet features that I could locate. The machines this is deployed to are behind a strict firewall, and no inbound or outbound Internet access.

Unopened Acrobat Standard 2017 forces us to sign-in and unregister other product

Installed Acrobat Standard 2017 out of the shrinkwrapped box. Used our single Adobe account to try to register it. Despite using the serial, it tells me I'm only allowed to have 2 installations (of previously shrinkwrapped product) at one time. My only option (because who would be signed in to product I just opened the box for?) was to 'unregister' whatever other versions they thought we had.

We are a corporation. We use one account for all things including our CC licensing console. Going forward, we will be doing the CC/DC online licensing.

I understand that I can't unify our existing product going forward to the new licensing management system, but I'm afraid that limitations in the system will prevent us from moving forward with thousands of dollars in Adobe products that we should be able to use and uninstall, unassign and repurpose for years to come.

I did chat with a CS agent. His only suggestion was to register it with an other Adobe ID. we can't manage boxed software registered to individual users.

Complicated Licensing

Good grief.

Y'all have the most complicated subscription licensing process know to mankind.

Network Install, then get prompted to login with Adobe ID. Go through that whole process

Management console "invitation" prompts to install from internet, regardless of already installed.

Wait for 2 email confirmations.

Hello,

Im trying to create the DC package using the customization wizard, i need to know if there is a way to enter a line to close existing adobe files that are open for the installation to take place. I have created the package using the wizard for SCCM, however i run into an issue where if a user have the pdf file open on their end, the installation fails.

Is there an option within the wizard to enter the following command "taskkill.exe /f /im acrord32.exe"

Expected behaviour when using Acrobat in Citrix

Hi all,

We have a client who has 3 named users across a group of 7 Citrix servers. I've used the Creative Cloud Packager to create a named user deployment of Acrobat Pro (after many hours of reading, I think this may have been the wrong utility to use) and deployed it across the servers.

Currently, named users have to sign in when they log on to a new server. They are already signed in if they log on to a server they've previously logged on to. Is this expected behaviour? Or should users only need to sign in once?

Cheers,

Simon

MSI + MSP + Acrobat DC Customization Wizard = No bueno

I've been banging my head on this problem for a few days now, and can't seem to find a resolution.  I'm moderately familiar with packaging and scripting installs, so there is a possibility my issue lies with my understanding of patching MSI files with MSP's.

I'm trying to create a custom installation of Acrobat Reader DC 2017 using the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC.  The downloads I'm starting off with are:

AcroRdrDC1701220093_en_US.exe
Which contains:

     abcpy.ini

     AcroRdrDCUpd1701220093.msp

     AcroRead.msi

     Data1.cab

     list.txt

     setup.exe

     setup.ini

CustWiz1502020039_en_US_DC.exe

Step 1:  Extract files from AcroRdrDC1701220093_en_US.exe using 7zip to a folder called Reader

Step 2:  Install Acrobat Customization Wizard DC

Step 3:  Launch ACW, load AcroRead.msi from Reader folder

Step 4:  Modify the settings, including a few custom HKLM and HKCU registry keys I got from here:

                    Services integration

Step 5:  Save transform file as "AcroRead.mst" to the Reader folder

Step 6:  From a virtual machine, run the installation files like this:

                    msiexec -i AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroRead.mst /quiet

Step 7:  Launch Acrobat Reader DC

What I found was some of the settings in the ACW did not propagate to the installation .  Mostly, none of the custom HKCU settings replicated to the user's registry.  I found a bug report with Acrobat Reader DC 2015 where the registry keys weren't migrating over properly at launch of Reader

[Acrobat Reader DC] HKCU registry keys are not replicated for each user as for Adobe Reader

Supposedly a fix was released in the 2017 branch of Reader.

What I discovered above is that in step 2, I was creating a transform file using the 2015 version of Acrobat Reader DC, but using the 2017 version of the ACW.  This might have been where some of my problems were coming from, so my next goal was to patch the MSI using the AcroRdrDCUpd1701220093.msp, and then re-create the transform file from scratch.  This is where I'm getting a little lost.

I read that an 'Administrative Installation' needs to be created, and then patched.  So I ran the command msiexec /a acroread.msi /p AcroRdrDCUpd1701220093.msp and then installed to a different folder called "Administrative Installations\Adobe Reader DC".  I then ran msiexec -i acroread.msi TRANSFORMS=acroread.mst /quiet from the original READER folder (because the MSI seems to have been updated) and I get all sorts of missing files errors.

All I'm trying to do is configure a transform file from the latest version of Acrobat Reader DC (2017) and then install the package, including the transform, to a virtual workstation for testing.  Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong?  Tnx.

Installing Acrobat Pro DC and Acrobat Standard DC using SCCM

I currently use SCCM to distribute all our software to the end users.  This includes the Current Adobe Acrobat XI Std and Pro versions.  We just converted them over to Acrobat Pro DC and Acrobat Standard DC and want to use SCCM to fulfill my installations.  I have downloaded the Creative Cloud Packager but that does not seem to allow me to create a package for Pro and a separate one for Standard.  Am I able to download a standalone MSI file that I can then configure to create our own MST file and then deploy through SCCM out to the users.  We do not allow users to install apps, so being able to utilize SCCM resolves that issue, and allow us to manage how the software is deployed.

Any assistance with this would be appreciated.  Using SCCM 2012 R2.

Does an Acrobat 2017 Customization Wizard exist? (Not for Acrobat DC)

I'm trying to customize a deployment of Acrobat 2017 Standard.

Specifically, I'd like to remove all cloud storage functionality (like the Dropbox integration) for DLP purposes.

I see lots of documentation surrounding the customization of DC deployments but no mention of Acrobat 2017 Standard (or Pro).

Could someone point me to the appropriate downloads and documentation?

Targets for this install will be Windows 10 1703.

Ideally the customized installer would be in a format that can be installed silently.

Thanks!

Are there any resources showing development security standards Adobe follow for iOS and Android applications?

Hi,

I am trying to locate information about the development standards used by Adobe for their mobile applications, in particular the Adobe Reader mobile app.

We would like to assess the risk when using Adobe mobile apps with potentially sensitive corporate data.

Example would be what processes are in place to identify and test for vulnerabilities etc, does Adobe test for the top OWAST vulnerabilities?

Is this information publicly available, or is there a contact in Adobe where I can get such information?

Thanks in advance,

p.s. I'm new to these forums so let me know if there is a better place to ask the question

We are sharing a license and want the license to be free after 30 minutes of inactivity. ( when someone forgets to log off)

We are using Creative Cloud Suite for Enterprise.

Thanks,
